The Brooks Range provides a variety of hiking possibilities from easy day hikes to more challenging overnight adventures. Our beautiful shoreline beach located directly in front of the lodge is fun for swimming, kayaking, or beach combing. Guests can try their hand at gold panning in the numerous creeks surrounding the lodge or attempt a challenging adventure by exploring old gold mines or searching for the prized Chandalar quartz crystal. You may even walk along the paths traveled by the legendary Frank Yasuda. There are numerous fishing and boating opportunities on Chandalar Lake. Lake Trout, Northern Pike, and Grayling are native to Chandalar Lake. In the Fall, there are many berry patches to pick from which include blueberries, cranberries, mossberries, and cloudberries. The Northern Lights start to appear around late August or early September.
